DOStamper Stars Thursday Challenge #196-Falling Flowers

#196

Hi Stampers!!! We have a color challenge this week!!! This color challenge was good for me because these are colors I would not normally reach for or put together. I do like the end result though. Sometimes you just have to work outside of your comfort zone. I had one piece left of the Pretty Petals DSP stack and while making this I laid it on my Peekaboo Peach cardstock. Well, the lightbulb went off and I went with it!!! I think it really makes the flowers POP!!!

Sunburst Thinlit Beach Ball Card

Hello Stampers!!! This week is the last week before school starts for our area. No, I don't have any school age children, just grandkids (thank GOODNESS). I don't know about you but my summer FLEW by. Fall is my favorite time of year and I usually can't wait but for some reason I am still wanting to hold onto summer. So, I thought I would make cards relating to summer this week.

DSCN1733

To make this, I cut a sunburst die cut out of Whisper White and lightly adhered to a piece of copy paper. I then, cut one sunburst die cut out of each of the colors I used. I took a colored piece and put SNAIL on the back and attached to the white sunburst thinlit die cut until I went all the way around. Then, you take your circle thinlit and cut out. Punch a 1-3/4" circle and adhere in the center.

Recipe:

Stamp Set: Project Life Remember This (retired), Gorgeous Grunge

Ink: Crumb Cake, Memento Black

Paper: Real Red, Emerald Envy, Pacific Point, Daffodil Delight, Whisper White, Pool Party, Crumb Cake

Accessories: Big Shot, Sunburst thinlit, Circle framelits (retired), 1-3/4" circle punch, SNAIL

In The Meadow Binoculars

While I had my stamp set In The Meadow out for yesterday's card I decided to make another masculine card. I can never have too many of these. I thought it would be cute to make it look like you were looking through binoculars. I did stamp the deer on a post it note to make a mask. After stamping the deer on my card, I placed the mask over it to stamp the mountains. I also got to use some of my Chevron ribbon stash.

Can't forget to stamp the inside!!!

I am really trying to get in the habit of stamping the inside of the card and the envelope to match. It makes it look so professional and complete IMO.

Ink: Soft Suede, Always Artichoke, Memento Black

Paper: Basic Black, Whisper White, Soft Sky

Accessories: Envelope punch board (to round corners), paper trimmer, Duet Banner punch, 2-1/2 inch circle punch, circle framelits, window sheet, SNAIL, dimensionals, Fast Fuse, Metal rimmed pearls, black chevron ribbon (retired)

DOStamper Stars Thursday Challenge #195-In the Meadow

#195

Here we are, back for another DOStamper Stars Thursday Challenge. This week it is a sketch pad challenge. I seem to do better with these. I think I strain my brain to hard if I have to come up with a layout. LOL I love using In The Meadow for masculine cards. I also used Rose Wonder for the sentiment. This set has so many beautiful sentiments. I also got to use some of my Crumb Cake satin ribbon in my stash.

Zoo Babies Gatefold

A co-worker of mine will soon be having her little bundle of joy. She knows she is having a girl. The colors she picked for the nursery are pink and gray. The theme is elephants. The elephant in the retired set Zoo Babies is exactly what is in her layette. Well wouldn't you know it---I don't own it!!! I know, I know, hard to believe, right? Well, my friend Elizabeth came to the rescue. She owns it and let me borrow it to make her card. Thank goodness for friends who help you out in a pinch!!!

I also used a couple of other retired items. Sometimes you just have to use what you have!!! I did use the new stamp set Badges and Banners for the sentiment along with the Duet Banner punch.

Olympics Inspired Seaside Shore

As stated in a previous post, I so enjoy watching the Olympics. In fact, I am glued to the TV. Watching them, I noticed the colors --- Daffodil Delight, Tempting Turquoise, Wild Wasabi and Pumpkin Pie. The colors are so SUMMERY, just yummy in my opinion. I actually made two cards. To make these, you take your piece of Whisper White cardstock and just sponge on the different colors to your liking. Then ink your stamp with VersaMark and emboss with white embossing powder.

A friend of mine asked if I would make her a wedding card to purchase. The new couple was having a rustic themed wedding with sunflowers and daises. When I showed her the card she stated she knows where she will be buying all of her cards in the future. She LOVED it!!!

Happy Birthday Lynn!!!

About a month ago, I accepted a position as a Radiology Assistant at our hospital. This position has EXCEEDED all of my expectations!!! I just LOVE it. Along with a new job of learning and re-training your brain you also have the opportunity to make new friends. Well, today is my new friend Lynn's birthday. Because we are all color coded by department, our color happens to be royal blue or in the Stampin' Up! world--Pacific Point. I knew I had to make her a scrubs card---very appropriate for our job and her birthday.

One thing I have learned from her is her heart is bigger than her body!! Even though the skeleton die is non-Stampin' Up! it is so appropriate for our department. I also used the computer to print out her name badge.

Ink: None

Paper: Pacific Point, Real Red, Whisper White, Blushing Bride, Basic Black, Vellum, Smoky Slate

Accessories: Word window punch (retired), Wish Big framelits, paper trimmer, Big Shot, dimensionals, SNAIL, small heart punch (retired), Note tag punch (retired), slot punch (retired)
